At Integrated Utility Services (IUS), we specialise in delivering practical engineering solutions to complex industrial challenges, and this project we carried out last year at Kemira Chemicals' Bradford facility is a great example.
Kemira commissioned IUS to replace the site's last remaining oil-filled High Voltage switchgear, alongside the installation of a new transformer, and all required cable connections.
Due to production requirements and access constraints, the new equipment could not be installed in the same location as the existing assets. Our team developed a solution that allowed the new infrastructure to be constructed in a separate location, enabling a carefully planned shutdown to be completed with minimal disruption to the customer's operations.
Working within a highly constrained area, we designed and installed a bespoke ladder racking system to support the HV cable network while maximising the limited space available. Detailed engineering, careful planning, and precise installation ensured safe cable routing, long-term reliability, and efficient use of the site footprint.
Projects like this demonstrate the importance of flexibility, collaboration, and an uncompromising commitment to safety. A huge credit goes to everyone involved in the design, planning, and delivery of this successful scheme.
