IUS is part of the Northern Powergrid group of companies and has provided specialist turnkey services since the year 2000. Throughout our history IUS has built a reputation for delivering high-quality projects, on time and to budget, safely. 

These projects include substation construction, contestable connections and multi-utility housing mains and services installation. IUS also provide Operation & Maintenance agreements with an emergency response service.

For more than 20 years, IUS has worked on public and private electrical distribution systems for Distribution Network Operators, the Independent Connections market, Renewable energy sector; the Multi Utility housing market, Water and Health authorities, Government institutions, as well as Education establishments, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Manufacturing, Retail and Construction industries.    

IUS has a full-time dedicated HSQE team responsible for the management and implementation of legislation and policy throughout our contracts. The management systems, safety excellence and delivery capability have enabled us to attain international standards, accreditations, and awards.

Group Structure

IUS is part of the Northern Powergrid group of companies, a group that includes Northern Powergrid (Yorkshire) and Northern Powergrid (Northeast) the licenced Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s) for the Yorkshire and Northeast regions.

Northern Powergrid Holdings is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, a leader in the supply and distribution of energy in the UK, US and Canada power sectors.

Northern Utility Services Ltd becomes Integrated Utility Services Ltd in UK and Ireland.

IUS completes first HV contestable connection as an Independent Connections Provider.

IUS secures 1,000 maintenance agreements.

IUS commences Multi Utility provision for UK housing developments.

Attained Achilles: UVDB registration and has continued to retain.

IUS secured our first RoSPA award and have gone on to attain the prestigious ‘Order of Distinction’.

Dublin office established as the IUS base in Ireland.

Wakefield established as the IUS head office.

IUS commenced a longstanding relationship with BELCO, the Bermuda Electricity Company, which continues to this day.

Bathgate office established as the IUS base in Scotland.

IUS attains the new ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standard accreditations for Quality and Environmental Management systems.

Attained Constructionline Gold status and secured the prestigious Going the Extra Mile award from Northumbrian Water.

IUS commercial fleet effectively becomes carbon neutral.

IUS attains the new ISO 45001:2018 standard accreditation for Occupational Health and Safety Management systems.

Registration under the new MURS accreditation scheme for Multi Utility.

IUS attain full 66kV NERS accreditation to complement our EHV capability.

Completion of our first battery energy storage system with Tesla at Little Raith in Scotland.
