OVERVIEW

Fingal County Council's climate change action plan sets out how the council will improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its own buildings and operations while making Fingal a more climate-resilient region. This will be achieved by a range of ongoing and planned actions, one of which is to replace all operational vehicles with electric vehicles. This meant installing vehicle EV chargers at all depots, which also required an increase in the electricity supply network.

DESCRIPTION

The project comprised the full construction and installation of a new ESB substation, LV room, boundary wall and associated ducting to facilitate a new MV supply. Works also included installing ducting from the LV room to the charger distribution board and extending this to multiple designated EV charger locations across the site.

IUS delivered all enabling and installation activities for the EV charging infrastructure, including the construction of charger bases and chambers, as well as the application of line markings and E‑charger logos to clearly define operational charging bays.

As part of the programme, IUS also completed the full reinstatement of the macadam driveway leading up to the depot, restoring the surface to a high standard following the installation works.

Throughout the project, IUS provided end‑to‑end project management, ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety Regulations, traffic management requirements and local council permissions. All works were delivered in accordance with ESB specifications and technical standards.
