OVERVIEW

As part of the Balrothery town upgrade and the new traffic calming measures undertaken by Fingal County Council, IUS has successfully completed two traffic junction improvements. This included the role of PSCS, all associated ancillary works, and the supply of all materials.

IUS was also the first contractor to be appointed to undertake the installation of the new Tree Technology on behalf of the Fingal County Council. IUS has supplied and installed 2 trees using the Strata Cell Urban Tree planting system, within the mini plaza buildout.

DESCRIPTION

The project involved the removal of the roundabouts and the realignment of the junctions to create a T-junction. This required the installation of new slip form kerbing, storm water drainage gullies and manholes, ensuring all levels were correct to prevent waterlogging. New public lighting ducts and pots had to be installed, together with additional ducting for ESB cables to facilitate overhead line diversions in the future. All new road layout signage and markings were supplied and installed by IUS.

This junction improvement also required a build-out of a mini public plaza, which, in the future, would display an art sculpture. This included echo channel drainage, the provisions for art sculpture lighting, and the planting of 2 trees using the Strata Cell Urban Tree planting technology. The plaza surface had to be tarred with a buff resin-bonded gravel overlay, edged with granite cobble setts. IUS also removed and replaced over 300m² of concrete footpaths and supplied and installed over 50 bollards on the project.

Integrated Utility Services played a key role in delivering critical elements of the Balrothery town upgrade. Their work on the two traffic junction improvements, was completed to a high standard and with minimal disruption. We were also pleased to have IUS as the first contractor to install the new Tree Technology on behalf of Fingal County Council. The successful installation of two trees using the Strata Cell Urban Tree planting system within the mini plaza buildout reflects their capability and commitment to the project."
