Our dedicated overhead lines team from Integrated Utility Services (IUS) and Northern Powergrid (NPg) joined forces with ESB to restore power across Ireland in the wake of Storm Eowyn.
🔹 Thursday 30th January: Our team—21 strong, including Linesmen, Wagon Drivers, and Planners—traveled from Stranraer to Belfast, alongside their manager, Reece Johnstone and NPg colleagues.
🔹 Friday 31st January: Following an induction, we journeyed 3.5 hours to Ballina, County Mayo, where we were briefed and sent out to begin fault repairs that evening.
🔹 Saturday 1st - Sunday 2nd February: Teams tackled outages in Foxford, Swinford, Bohola, and Belmullet. Most damage was caused by fallen trees, resulting in snapped wires and broken poles.
🔹 Monday 3rd - Tuesday 4th February: Our teams continued to repair TX poles, wires, and critical infrastructure across Swinford, Carracastle, and Belmullet—with some of our crew returning home after their hard work.
A huge thank you to our partners at ESB for such a warm welcome, and our incredible team working collectively with ESB for their resilience and expertise in restoring power to communities across Ireland!
