Last week, our team at Integrated Utility Services were on site at Northern Gas Networks’ NeRV (Net Zero Research Village), working on the final 11kV cable jointing and terminations, testing and commissioning ahead of the site being energised.
Integrated Utility Services have installed all ducts and cables, a 2MVA transformer, 11kV switchgear and an 11kV ring main unit, as well as Electrical protection via VIP400 relays. The finished substation will be a major step forward for this innovative project.
This has been an extremely interesting and rewarding project to be part of. Northern Gas Networks has carefully tailored the NeRV site to support its Net Zero ambitions, and we’ve been proud to work in partnership with them to help make that vision a reality.
From using alternative materials on site to minimising generator noise to protect local wildlife, every stage of the project has required thoughtful planning and collaboration. Our role has not just been to deliver the electrical infrastructure needed to power the site, but to do so in a way that supports Northern Gas Networks in maintaining and achieving its net-zero goals.
A huge credit to our site teams and to Northern Gas Networks for the collaborative approach throughout. We’re looking forward to seeing the NeRV site fully energised and continuing to support projects that push the boundaries of sustainable infrastructure.
