Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Integrated Utility Services where we require a Craft Mate to support our Fitters and Jointers. 

Our main region is within the combined Teesside/North Yorkshire &/or North/West Yorkshire areas so we encourage applications from individuals who live within one of these areas.  IUS also cover nationwide contracts and so there will be a requirement to work outside of these areas on occasion.

A Craft Mate is a critical role and an integral part of the teams responsible for the installation, inspection and maintenance of equipment that forms part of private, DNO & IDNO electrical infrastructures.

A Craft Mate will team up with either an Electrical / Mechanical Fitter or Jointer whilst undertaking (HV/LV) Cable Jointing, Plant installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of HV switchgear and automation equipment in Yorkshire. In addition to operational support, a mate will act as a safety attendant always ensuring the safety of self and others.

IUS recognise that the Industrial Resource team are at the forefront of the business and are provided with the vehicle, appropriate training, competence, tools, test instruments and PPE to deliver professional experience for our many customers. 

Key Responsibilities

Contracts are based on an attractive 37-hour week delivered Monday to Friday and regular opportunities for overtime for those that want it.

Essential qualifications & attributes

An interest, experience or aptitude for electrical / mechanical engineering

Desirable qualification & attributes

·  Completed apprenticeship or equivalent training for Electrical Fitting on HV distribution networks

·  City and Guilds in Electrical Principles or relevant electrical qualification 

·  DNO / (i)DNO Qualifications, ie;

  • Access and Supervision in locations with level 3 Security
  • HV electrical authorisations for construction, installation and/or maintenance works

·  Previous experience of HV Electrical Fitting works on DNO (i)DNO or private distribution networks, to include installation, construction and/or maintenance works
